These mid-eighties to late nineties models enjoyed a continuous, but confusing continual development, which means that there can be some differences to the facts and figures shown above. The mile markers below attempt to clarify some of those differences.
Mulsanne Turbo (1982 - 85) carburettor (some fuel injected)
Turbo 'R' (1985 - '87) carburettor (some fuel injected)
Turbo 'R' (1987 chassis 20000 onwards) fuel injection & ABS brakes
Turbo 'R' (1989 onwards) air cooled charge cooler
Turbo 'R' (1990 onwards) active ride control
Turbo 'R' (1992 - '93) Kat exhaust & 4 speed gearbox
Turbo 'R' (1994 - '95) Motronic 3.3 engine management system
Turbo 'S' (1994 - '96) Zytek engine management
Turbo 'R' (1996 onwards) Zytek engine management - 386 bhp & 553 lb/ft torque
Turbo 'RL' (1997 onwards) electronic traction control
Turbo 'RT' (1997 - '98) 400 bhp
'RT' Mulliner (1997 - '98) 420 bhp & 650 lb/ft torque
Turbo 'S' Of the 60 Turbo S cars produced, 1 (SCH56801 - the first S made) was a LWB model made for the Managing Director of Vickers Ltd. There were 75 'S' spec engines and each engine has a brass plaque numbering which engine it is. 60 went into Turbo S cars, 13 into Continental S and 2 into re-engined (and re-badged)Turbo R's - 1 of which, SCX55752 has engine No.60 (believed in USA) and the other SCX55751 is a LWB with engine 62 (last known in Germany in March 2001)
