Ho! ho! ho! A magnificent turnout of more than a hundred revellers enjoyed raising a yuletide glass at our now traditional annual Christmas shindig at a festively decked out Clubhouse.
After last year’s party was cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic, everyone seemed doubly keen to head to Wroxton and take the welcome opportunity to finally catch up with friends old and new.
Club President Duncan Wiltshire and Club Chairman Richard Parkinson welcomed around 130 Members, guests and suppliers who shared a delicious buffet lunch and imbibed the odd noggin or two.
Several of the assembled throng took the once-a-year opportunity to dig out their best festive jumpers and ties, but the Best Dressed award must go to Chris Cooper, who sported a truly striking Christmas suit, shirt, tie and shoes combo. It certainly caught the eye.
Star of the show, in many people’s eyes, was the legendary EXP2, Bentley’s very first race-winning car (from 1921) and kindly on loan from the Bentley Motors Heritage Collection, which adorned the corner of the main hall where the party took place. Keeping attendees further entertained was a rolling video showing old black and white Bentley racing footage.
The delicious buffet lunch, beautifully prepared by Winslow Catering, kept everyone well fed, with artisan sandwiches and wraps, creamed chickpea and stilton cornet, smoked salmon and cream cheese crostini, turkey/smoked bacon/stuffing roulade, and brie & cranberry quiche followed by cranberry/amaretti/chocolate salami, sherry trifle, stollen cake and mince pies. Plus, of course, the odd tipple of vino.
Several Members also took the chance to pop into the busy Club Shop to stock up on those last-minute Christmas gifts and cards.
