Unveiling at special afternoon party at Clubhouse next month

The Bentley Memorial Foundation (WOBMF) has announced an exciting new Triple Launch event to take place at the Clubhouse in Wroxton on Wednesday 24 November.

The Triple Launch will cover:

  • the unveiling of 1888 - the WOBMF's new journal
  • the displaying of the legendary EXP2 (pictured) - the model which gave Bentley its maiden race win in 1921
  • a new exhibition - '100 Years of Racing: the Experimental and 3 Litre Years'
The Triple Launch will take place during a special afternoon party at the Clubhouse to which all Club members are invited.

Launch of the first issue of 1888: The new annual journal from the Bentley Memorial Foundation complements Foundation Corner in the Review, and includes wide-ranging and in-depth articles on every era and aspect of the Bentley story from the present day back to the birth of WO in… 1888. It will be sent free of charge to Foundation Life Members and donors.

Arrival of the legendary EXP2: The world’s oldest surviving Bentley and the marque’s first ever race winner, 100 years ago. Bentley Motors has kindly loaned EXP2 to the Foundation for display at Wroxton until mid-December. This will be a unique opportunity to get up close and personal with the car that founded the Bentley legend.

Unveiling of the Foundation’s new display: In the Exhibition Hall to commemorate the centenary of that first race win. ‘100 Years of Racing: the Experimental and 3 Litre Years’ focuses on the exploits of EXP2 and the other trailblazers that founded the Bentley legend, from Brooklands to Indianapolis.

Tea and cakes will be on offer from 2-3.30pm. There is no charge for attending to BDC Members.

For more details please contact: Noel Trewhela at the Club Office (call 01295 738886 ext 2 or email noel.trewhela@bdcl.org).

The Triple Launch day is the first of a series of special events being organised by the WOBMF at the Clubhouse over the coming months to which all Members are invited.

On 2 April, the inaugural Talks Day will feature an entertaining programme of illustrious presenters on subjects Bentley and non-Bentley.

Headline speaker will be motor industry heavyweight Sir John Egan on Saving Jaguar. He will be joined by Club Member Doug McWilliams on Driving the Silk Road (competing in the Peking to Paris Motor Challenge in an S1) and best-selling author and WOBMF Life Member Peter Grimsdale on Racing in the Dark (focusing on the classic Bentley era of the 1920s).

More details on this event to follow in due course.
