Richard Parkinson stands down at AGM after three-year term ends

The BDC is pleased to announce Phillip Hine as the new Club Chairman, following its 85th Annual General Meeting on Saturday.

Phillip, who already sat on the Board as a Director, succeeds Richard Parkinson, whose three-year term of office as Chairman has come to an end. Richard will remain as a Director.

Joining the Board is Competitions Captain Ben Eastick, while Club President Duncan Wiltshire and remaining Board members David Spencer and Phil Brooks will all continue in their posts.

Meanwhile, Ron Warmington, Club Chairman from 2016-2019, and former Competitions Captain Mike Haig have both now retired as Directors.

And long-serving Competitions Steward Harvey Hine has formally stepped down from his role after 15 years.

“It’s been a terrific honour and privilege to serve the Club,” said Richard, “and I now pass over to the Phillip who I’m sure will do an even better job.”

Duncan offered an “enormous thank-you” to Richard on behalf of the Club and, referring to the coronavirus pandemic, paid tribute to Richard’s “very steady leadership chairing the Club through the last three years with everything that’s been thrown at us.”

He added: “Richard has done a magnificent job and we have been incredibly fortunate to enjoy the benefit of his acumen. He’s very professional and the Club is as strong as it’s ever been.”

Welcoming the new Chairman, Duncan said: “I am very much looking forward to Phillip taking on the mantle.”

The AGM was held at the Clubhouse in Wroxton and online via Zoom.
