CLUB ANNOUNCEMENT: Barbara Haig appointed as Deputy Chair

Midlands Region Chair is named as Chairman Mike Warner's number two
Barbara Haig (pictured) has been appointed as the new Deputy Chairman of the BDC Main Board, the Club is pleased to announce.
Currently Chair of the Midlands Region, Barbara will serve as number two to Chairman Mike Warner.
Barbara, who enjoys a long-standing association with the Club alongside husband Mike, took up her new post on 1 October, after it was ratified at the recent September Board meeting. Barbara originally joined the Main Board at the end of last year.
“We are delighted Barbara has accepted this invitation which will help enormously in our plan of succession for the Main Board,” said Mike Warner.
Barbara’s background
Barbara and her family have been proud Members of the BDC for nearly 45 years, Barbara joining the Club 34 years ago. Over this time, the Haig family has owned many different Bentleys.
After initially joining the Midlands committee, Barbara stepped into the role of Chairman when she succeeded Tom Commander in 2022.
After joining the Main Board, Barbara was tasked with renegotiating the contract for the Club’s magazines. She also has considerable event-planning experience, both with the Midlands Region and as a joint organiser of the annual BDC Summer Concours, and has recently been co-opted on to the Competitions Committee with responsibility for its social activities.
Husband Mike is a former Main Board member, Midlands Region Chair and Competitions Captain.
“I have a deep appreciation of Bentleys of all eras and believe them all to be equally important to the Club,” stated Barbara. “I also genuinely believe that it is the Members who form the true heart of the BDC.”
On a professional level, Barbara co-founded a successful publishing business, producing four monthly magazines with national and international distribution. After stepping away from the publishing world, a retirement which was to only last six months, Barbara established an import company which she still manages today. She is also Chairman of a local political association.
