Harry Johnson replaces Ben Eastick
Harry Johnson has been appointed as the new Competitions Captain of the BDC, it has been announced.
The Club’s Main Board is delighted that Harry has agreed to take up the position. The Board will continue to support the Club’s long-standing commitment to its competitions activities and work with Harry to broaden this area of the Club.
Harry has succeeded Ben Eastick who has resigned due to family-business commitments, and the Board is very grateful for his contribution.
Harry’s lifelong interest in motorsport has seen him successfully compete in a variety of machines, including a TVR 3000M and a prototype 3000S, a Proteus C-Type Jaguar (once owned by pianist Jools Holland), a Ferrari 308GTB (formerly owned by The Who vocalist Roger Daltry) and the two-litre GN Spider (ex-Basil Davenport). He currently owns a T-Type Special (pictured) built by Mike Haig, one of Harry’s recent predecessors as BDC Competitions Captain.
On a professional basis, Harry runs his family’s estate in Warwickshire, which, as well as the usual agricultural activities, is home to a polo club and the breeding of polo ponies. It also hosts the JCB Pony Club Championships (the largest equestrian event in Europe), British Eventing horse trials and the Wolf Run. The estate also serves as a popular film and TV location (Dalziel & Pascoe, Dangerfield, The Locksmith, Nativity Rocks, Joan, Father Brown and more).
