The Bentley Drivers Club regrets to inform Members of the sad passing of leading historic motorsports competitor Julian Grimwade following an accident at Donington Park on Saturday (24 May).
Julian, a highly respected and successful competitor, was competing at a VSCC meeting when he suffered an accident at the wheel of his Oakland Romano Special on the opening lap of the Mephistopheles Trophy & Lanchester Trophy race for Pre-1925 Racing Cars. Motorsport UK will conduct an investigation into the incident, it has confirmed.
Julian, who was aged 72 and a Member of the BDC for more than 20 years, was a prolific and enthusiastic competitor who tackled a wide variety of events, including races and hillclimbs.
The BDC extends its sincere condolences to Julian's family and friends. He will be greatly missed.
