Trio enthrall packed Clubhouse at joint WOBMF/BDC event

A full house enjoyed three superb presentations during the second Talks Day at the Clubhouse last Saturday.

Motor industry heavyweight Mike Flewitt, the recently retired CEO of McLaren Automotive and former Production Director of Bentley Motors, was joined by eminent barrister and classic-car business author Paul Griffin along with renowned TV motorsport presenter and historic racer Amanda Stretton.

Around 70 Club Members and guests packed into the exhibition hall at Wroxton to hear two fascinating and insightful talks, firstly from Mike, giving the inside track on his stellar career and his thoughts on sustainable transport, and secondly from Paul who discussed the authenticity of classic vehicles as outlined in his excellent recently published book The Past and the Spurious.

And attendees were kept highly entertained by Amanda, who offered her forthright and amusing views on life as a female TV presenter and racer across various motorsport categories, including the 2008 Le Mans 24 Hours, in conversation with Bentley Memorial Foundation (BMF) trustee Michael Barton.

To add some extra va-va-voom to the day, organised jointly by the BMF and the BDC, a special motor show of nine very diverse cars, including Bentleys, a McLaren 765 LT, an Alfa-Romeo Montreal and a BAC Mono R, adorned the Club car park.
