Latest Club motorsport regs discussed and 2022 awards presented
Club racing matters and regulations were discussed, and awards presented, when the BDC held its annual Competitions Day at the Clubhouse in Wroxton last Saturday.
Club President Duncan Wiltshire and Competitions Captain Ben Eastick together brought the Club’s motorsport members up to date both with competition plans for 2023 and forthcoming Le Mans celebrations as well as a review of an “encouraging” 2022 season.
In addition, a general Q&A session covered topics such as regulations (particularly those affecting tyres), eligibility of Mk VI Specials, format the BDC Silverstone blue-riband Times Challenge Trophy race, sprinting and the proposed Continental GT series. An update on amendments from the latest Motorsport UK Yearbook was also given.
Class awards from BDC Silverstone 2022 were also handed out. Ben Eastick received four prizes, including one for winning the Times Challenge Trophy race and another for Racing Driver of the Year. Oliver Llewellyn won three awards (picked up in his absence by father Tim) while newcomer Vernon Moore and the seasoned Clive Morley took two each.
The Stan Terry Memorial Trophy (for Official of the Year) was posthumously awarded to Terry Rogers, who passed away recently, in recognition of his many years of service as the Club’s Chief Scrutineer.
