Historic and Classic motor industry impact study

A new study detailing the economic and social contribution of the Historic and Classic motor industry has illustrated how the sector boosts the UK economy while, at the same time, managing to generate or preserve historic skills. 

Just like the historic and classic vehicles the industry services, the heritage motor sector turns over £18.3 billion employing 113,000 people across the supply chain – a welcome boost to the UK economy just when it is needed. 

Not only that, but the industry also generates more than 53 per cent fewer emissions than those created by spending the same money on a typical consumer basket of goods or services.

The 60-page report, published on behalf of historic rally organisation HERO-ERA by the Centre for Economics and Business Research (of which BDC Member Doug McWilliams, pictured in his S1 on the 2019 Peking to Paris Motor Challenge, is Deputy Chairman), covers the impact of the industry on the economy, jobs, skills, the heritage and the environment.
