Gentlemen!

Any thoughts on how to raise an electric window that is stuck and won't budge no matter how much force is manually applied. I have the details and specifications for the interior works.

The motor runs when the button is applied. I have checked for child locks as the affected window is the rear passenger side. The locking mechanism is not engaged.

I have been told that it very well could be the regulator. Could someone explain in a simple way what this part is?

I am taking this to the dealer for repair but want to be somewhat knowledgable about the mechanism so that I don't seem like a girl at a car dealership!

With apologies to those inclined to be defenders of the feminists who disapprove of our 'silly societies!"

George

There was some research done by the Consumers Association which found that women are less likely to get ripped off at a dealership than men, so maybe you should get wife to take it in?

George,

I have never seen the inside of a modern Bentley door, but if you can hear the motor running when you push the button, it must be a mechanical, rather than electrical, failure. The regulator may be a reduction gear driving some sort of rack and pinion, or worm and sector mechanism to convert the rotation of the motor's armature into the up and down movement of the glass. Either the little gear, or the worm, may have lost a tooth or come loose on the shaft, so the effort generated by the motor is to no avail.

A fair chunk of the cost will be due to stripping the door trim off with care so nothing is broken scratched or torn, and then putting it all back together as carefully as the factory did, ensuring that the door will open and close without the trim fouling the frame and seals, although I'm sure the fitter will be far more expert at this than I am.

I hope this helps, but I'm afraid it isn't going to be a cheap fix.

Hi John

Not many repairs on a B are exactly value oriented. Thanks for your suggestions.

This is one repair that I am going to wait on since I can live with the inconvenience. I have found a technician who can do the repair but have already been forewarned as to its cost.

Thanks

George
