I notice that the 1949 Mk VI ( B 420 EY,) nurtured by the late Laurie Fox for over 50 years, (and much featured in past postings,) is up for auction next month at Barons, Sandown Park.
These models don't seem to be realising much of a price at the moment . I shouldn't think that there is another one on the market with such a detailed maintenance history, so it would be nice if a member took it on and kept it going as a standard steel saloon. |

I just re-read the interesting section on this car in Robert Zannetti's biography of the late Laurie Fox.
It will be under the hammer as Lot no. 125 tomorrow, (13.6.17) at Barons Auction, Sandown Park, should anyone be interested. |

As I recall, Laurie replaced the wings with fiberglass replicas? Not mentioned in the auction ad. |

Sills (rocker panels)also I believe.
Always take a little magnet and a clean handkerchief. |

I recall conversing with Laurie about the fibreglass wings, if you are not going in for concours competitions, they seem like a good idea to me. Not quite so sure about the sills, do they make much contribution to the stiffness of the coachwork?
What's the handkerchief for? Is it to protect the paint from scratches, or are you allergic to P38? |

Always the wag.
Do you mean the Allison engined P38 Lightning, USA fighter?

No sale price is given for Laurie's car on the Barons website. Does that mean it didn't sell? |

The auction estimate was £18 - 23,000 but the bidding only went up to £10,000, so probably not sold. |
