I have been searching for a good pair of quality tables since purchasing my Brooklands and a few weeks ago I was fortunate to purchase a pair from a poorly damaged Turbo R.
I have had to cut out my own seat backs, however the results are very pleasing.

Thanks they were in excellent condition. Although magnolia there is a slight colour mismatch, I shall play around with my leather dyes to improve the match.
Seat back drawers and decanters next will finish the look. _________________ Phil

I'd be interested to hear how you went about this, Phil, as I'm contemplating doing the same on my Turbo S. Do you know if there were any changes in the table design over the life span of the Spirit/Turbo/Mulsanne/Brooklands models?

Hi Chris,
There are some variations however these are obvious when looking, also the seat Back shape differs, narrower at the shoulders plus a cutout where the headrest sits. That said the picnic tables even in the narrower shouldered seats (mainly turbo style) will fit in the wider style.
I found seat backs from a turbo with picnic tables fitted in the correct magnolia colour.
I removed the seat backs and carefully routered out the hole for the tables, new star washers were needed but other than that it is a simple transfer from one seat to the other. There are only two screws holding the seatback in place.
You may get lucky and find some seats with the tables on eBay. _________________ Phil

Thanks, Phil.
I've found some just like yours, with the leather covering showing when they are closed. If I get them, they are off the wide style of seat back and going onto the narrower top Turbo R / Turbo S sports seat. Am I right that all the tables are the same dimensions?
How do the seat backs come off, and what gives the tables their rigidity when they're fitted? I guess the seat back is quite a rigid structure.

Hi Chris,
The tables are the same dimensions. The seat backs are secured by two small screws on the sides and to the base of the seats one each side, they are easy to remove, then lift the seat back towards you slightly and away from the main chair body and then lift upward as they are clipped in at the top shoulders and by the headrest and that is it, about 10 mins a seat to remove.
The tables it will be obvious to you when you get them, they are fastened with little star washers, these will break when you remove them but they are readily available on ebay. The table itself removes from the surround, the surround is then secured in place either side of the seat back so the seat is in effect sandwiched between the front and rear of the surround, the picnic table then secures back in place. They are very solid once fitted.
I hope it all goes to plan and look forward to seeing some pictures too.

excellent result. i dont understand why they did not all come with these as standard, especially considering how much these cars cost new. they simply make the back seat area look that much moire special. otherwise that blank expanse on the seat back looks a bit awkward.
These have been on my hit list when searching for a Turbo R . |

Very interesting... would it be possible to fit these to my 2008 Brooklands Coupe, does anyone know ? The seat backs are different and incorporate a 'hump' that contains the inertia reel mechanism for the seat belt and also the seat side airbag widgets I believe, so it may not be possible. Does anyone know if they were offered as an option when specifying the car ? |

Lovely inlaid wood. I have similar ones on mine. Didn't know that you could install these at home.

The picnic tables look superb Phil. Would you consider fitting a pair to my 2000 Arnage (for a suitable consideration, of course)? |
