Does anyone have any history on this car? B19RS It was recently in a shop which had a propane tank explosion. Lots of damage. We are going to work on restoration. Any history would be appreciated. Thanks. S. Adams Texas, USA

Only from Bernard L King’s book.

09/52 Standard body in velvet green, supplied to John Croall & Sons Ltd. A dealer. Annotation says “trials car”, engine B69R.
No English reg.no given.
In G Br ‘63, owner Wilson.

That’s the best I can do.

You sent me a pm, but it has taken a long time for me to spot it, due to a glitch in the system, which is hopefully being corrected.

How are you getting on with the car? Is it capable of being sorted without disproportionate expense? Please let us know.

Cheers
John

John, thanks for the information on the car. At som point it was repainted. Then got busted in the explosion. The car seems be in decent shape. Has a number of dents from the blast. The engine runs and sounds good. All the tools were looted from the car at some point. There are two shattered windows. A few pieces of the wood trim are broken. The new owner has the experience, tools, time, ambition and facilities to restore the car. He has several other RR cars that are of similar vintage. It will likely be as new in a year.

Thank you.

I’m afraid the early Crewe cars seem to fall between the cracks when compared with the pre WW2 and the very modern offerings, but they do cause a stir in the High Street. If the new owner has amongst his fleet a Silver Dawn or perhaps a Silver Wraith he should encounter little difficulty with an R-type.

Cheers

John,

The owner has a 1951 Silver Wraith. And I have a 1953 R which I have had for 48 years. 😎

Thanks, that is a superb car. My old warrior is in bits, but here is a picture of a picture, done by a local artist, best I can offer.

Cheers
