Hello from Bryan in Staffordshire, I am on the very outer edge of the BDC and completely out of touch! Whats going on? What should I know?

Likewise, has any member an update on what has caused these sudden resignations?
Regards
Geoff

Yes, it would be interesting to know the background to this, especially as the General Manager has now joined the exodus.

With three directors leaving, plus the General Manager, the Board owes the entire membership an explanation.

Immediately if not sooner please!
Membership subs due soon so some kind of explanation is obligatory.

Philip Hine is wearing a very expensive jacket for his resignation picture Mr. Green

The situation has most likely become too much for them, and no longer the"fun".

As my wife pointed out; it's one thing for the unpaid directors to resign, but the manager giving up her livelihood is altogether more serious. People generally don't leave their job on a whim. I fear this may be final straw for some members come renewal time.

It’s certainly mine Nicholas unless an explanation is forthcoming in the next few days although going on our previous experiences, communication with members from Wroxton via this platform has been all but abandoned.

It is a while since the various resignations etc., and no real explanation of what happened. I have no doubt that there will be many theories, some assuming terrible goings on!
Usually an honest explanation is the best policy especially if there is an agm at which informed votes will need to be cast.
Hopefully the ‘new’ board will furnish us with proper details.

Sorry that I have not been monitoring the forum, so have not replied to this earlier. Is this still a live issue, or have you had the answers you want?

From a personal view, Duncan asked me three times to join the Board, and I refused as one additional Board member was not going to be able to make sufficient difference. After the resignations, and people like Mike Warner, in whom I have tremendous confidence, joining, I agreed to be co-opted. The good news is that the mistakes have been corrected, albeit at a cost to the club, and hence the members. Personally, I have confidence in the current Board, and I would urge all members to stay in the club.

In the New Year, I will be consulting staff, Board members, Regional Committees and the forum users to see what we should do with the current web site and forum. I don’t want to raise expectations as no money has been put in next year's budget to do this, but I can also see cost savings that could help contribute.

I suspect the next AGM will be lively, but if you want more explanation now, I will ask Mike to give it.

Paul

If you are in the know and in a position of responsibility, why not tell us the reason for the resignations and why there has been a cost incurred to the club. Just what has been going on? We, the members and payers of our subs, are deserving of a full explanation. If you wish to make a difference, please make the board more open and transparent.

Paul,
I am at a loss why the forum is not monitored by senior management as a matter of course as it is the only direct interaction that some members have with each other.
From what you have said, I for one have not had my questions answered regarding the resignations and there appears to have been an element of obfuscation if mistakes regarding Club funds have been made and a loss has been incurred. I think that it is time to be honest and transparent about the affair.

I am looking for a full explanation of this sorry affair in the next magazine.

The outlook will be much better when the rain has ceased to saturate everything.

The goal posts in the playing fields in Tadcaster are nearly covered in water.

They are old, fed up and it is no longer "fun".

I have only just been co-opted onto the Board, and most of the information I have is second hand. We have not yet had a Board meeting, but there is one on January 11th. I will raise your concerns. What I can definitely say is that the Board will be a lot more open going forward. This can only be a good thing.

Mike did not want to expand on what has been said as we are trying to move forward. It was really just a case of some unsound decisions, some of which broke the Articles of Association. One of these was the making of payments to a Director.

In such circumstances, with people breaking the Club's Articles, we should all know what has happened. 'Mike' is not in a position to stifle debate. What was the payment to the director for? Who was the director? Has he repaid the money? We need to know. It's our club and our money.

I suggest asking the questions at the AGM. That way, the answers are recorded for all to see.
