I see some engines have aluminium covers protecting the dynamo power take off coupling to the rear rocker cover.

Was this standard fitment on all engines and if do, are they still available to purchase?

Rob, I can't state categorically that the covers (which also accommodate 4 spare plugs) were standard fitment but I have rarely seen a car without one.
As to availability, it is probably worthwhile to contact the spares scheme and if unavailable advertise in the club advertiser.

You could also try Donald Day, or Tim Holding.

Re this do they differ between 3 and 4 1/2 as i have been told it is difficult to get the cam cover off with '3' size fitted to 4 1/2.

Just a thought, do you have the four studs, or threaded holes, in the bulkhead?

If the fixings are not there, perhaps it never had the cover.

When I bought my car, a Recreation of the Bobtail Le Mans Car, it did not have the cover. I did enquire at the time and was told the Team Cars never had them fitted so for the "look" it was correct for my car not to have the cover.
So it hasn't . Smile

I've just reread my post, and I should have said three, not four, studs. Apologies for the misinformation.

There appear to be four threaded holes indicating it would have had one originally.
I have acquired one at a 'significant' cost!

Hi Rob - my bulkhead has several holes adjacent to the cover - rev counter cable, oil pressure gauge, water temperature gauge, autovac fixings etc.

Where are you?

I am in mid Cornwall.
There are three threaded holes that look as though they will line up with the coupling cover.

There are a few bits and bobs disappearing into the bulkhead, including the ones you mentioned.

Hi Rob, the three threaded holes sound right. Mine have got studs in them.

If, in April (it is either on Sat 2nd or Sat 9th - see the Diary, and check with Bob Zannetti)), you can make the journey from Cornwall to Hampshire, it would be worth your while to book in to the S E Region (WO) Technical Day that is given by William Medcalf at his workshop. You will learn a lot if you can make it. Unfortunately, I will be away at that time, but have been to previous ones and they are 5*.

For Rob and all other Cricklewood fans William's Technical day is 9 April and is £20 per person for all day including coffee on arrival and lunch. See 'Diary' for more details. Cheques should be made out to BDC South East Region and sent to me.
