Looking at updating my 58 S1 to one of the SZ series, been advised 90>94 are probably most suitable, and there appear to be a number of good low mileage etc cars up to 96 of all model designations about, but for similar money one can also now look at the Arnage series, 4.4, or, for a bit more 6.8. Not looking for "everyday" but weekend and events etc. How does the rear legroom and boot capacity in the Arnage compare with the lwb cars?
Had Mk VI for 46 years and the S1 for 34 years, so do not change too frequently.
Also had No.2 son for nearly 24 years and he rather wants to "share" this, ie I pay, he drives.
Thanks for any advice, other than ditch the son.

With that approach, your son will go far. Keep him for now.
Re the Arnage; you could perhaps pm Dick Roadnight who posted with gently decreasing enthusiasm about his 4.4 Arnage e.g;

I've also heard that comment about the 4.4 not being great for overtaking from another owner. Other than that, the 4.4 is good value and has a lot going for it. Can't comment on the boot space but there are a few owners on here and the search facility does work with a bit of patience.
Do let us know how you get on. |

The real problems with the electronic cars is that a simple repair can exceed £5000, they all rust and are a pain to park.
Why do you want to part with the lovely S1?

I can't offer you any comparisons, but I have had my 1990 Turbo R for over 13 years now and I love it. I opted for this particular model because I wanted the active ride and other modifications that came in at around that time (although I have forgotten what they are now!), but I didn't want the floor shift that came in a few years later.
If I can answer any questions relating to my particular car, I'd be happy to do so. _________________ Best wishes,

Good afternoon Peter,
I have owned my Arnage T for approximately 18 months and have been very pleased with the car (used for weekends etc.). The leg room in the rear of the car is good and the boot provides excellent carrying capacity.
I would agree that the Arnage is a big car to park but I guess that you are used to a vehicle of this size based upon the details you have provided of previous ownership!
Regards, Gary. |
