Can anyone recommend a suitable brand and grade of shock damper oil. There are a number on the market but no viscosity is mentioned only light, medium and heavy.

As they are all getting a bit worn and leaky,I use 20/50 engine oil. |

Thanks Chris, I thought of using fork oil which is too thin. 20/50 it is . |

I’m using an ordinary 10W40 multigrade. I believe it’s better not to end up with a cocktail of different oils in order not to compromise the efficiency of the shock absorption. I presume, not being an engineer, that the tolerances on valves are machined for specific types of oil. My shocks are leaking and need topping up quite often, trying not to let any particle of dust in the filler spout. I think the onside rear one leaks the most because it gets quite warm being near the rear silencer. An overhaul is on the cards for the near future. On the other side, in the reservoir under the front floorboards, all seems to be working properly.
Ciao,
Ewan
