Jim Bott let me know yesterday that his and his father's car is featured in this month's PPC magazine. I popped into WH Smith today and picked up a copy. The article is worth a read.

Did they give any performance statistics?
Any chance of posting any extracts?

There were no performance details in the article. It was more of a build story.

Hi Al,
Yes, an interesting car. I actually bought that issue whereas I normally speed read them in Sainsburys. The pain of having done so wasn't entirely alleviated by the rather meagre content of the article, however I did enjoy the pictures.
I took some photographs of the car at the concours (I put one on the bodywork thread recently) but the owners seemed to object to it being photographed and gave me the evils so I left them to it. As far as I can remember, that's the only time that's happened to me.
John, there weren't any performance figures because the car isn't finished yet. If you wish, I can tear the article out of my comic and post it to you as it's not exactly a keeper?

Thanks Stephen for the thought. I was just curious as to the performance gain from loosing all that weight. So not to worry with tearing the article out ! |

I've dusted off my trusty Box Bownie to take pics of my project MkVI donor chassis - which arrived Friday past, so will happily photograph or scan the article and email to whoever is interested.
It's not a magazine that I'd heard of - I opine that I won't be hearing of it again, unless of course sharing the content becomes litigous!

PPC is a good mag for those interested in special build projects of all sorts. They often cover pre and early post war specials. The article on the MK6 is quite good and mainly covers the build aspect. Worth a read if you are into specials.

My pal used to buy PPC and pass it on to me. I agree there are some inspiring self-builds in there.
My supply of nearly new issues dried up when they had a quiz where you had to identify ten obscure V8 engines and, tragically, my pal got them all right, decided he needed to get out more and stopped buying it. |

Jonathan, would you please send me the link you mention and what do the initials PPC stand for? After my 4 1/4 is finished, a special is next. My email address is rmasten@cbmc.com. Regards, Ric |
