On December 1st 2009, Bentley instigated a charity auction for the benefit of The Christie NHS Foundation Trust, the auction being held by Bonhams in London.
The designers, artists and stylists at Crewe generated unique artwork and sculptures on the theme of 'Design is our Passion, this is our Art', for this worthy cause.
I wondered if any members attended and if any bid or purchased any of the 29 items ? (I purchased one)

My son and I both attended.
We did bid on a few items, but failed to buy anything. Sometimes the prices rose beyond our limits before we had time to raise our hands at all!
We found it a very pleasant evening and would be delighted to attend another.
I recall that we met David Haye, who I think had just become WBA Heavyweight Champion, and had his hand in plaster as a consequence of the fight, and we also saw the then-new Mulsanne for the first time.
What did you buy? |

Hi Adam,
Thanks for your input.
I purchased the 'Sculpture of Speed', depicting the airflow over the Le Mans winning Speed 8 race car, designed by Rajesh Kutty, it is beautifully made.
I wanted the Richard Gilmartin sculpture 'The Flying 'B' also, but it was bid too high for me.
It would be great if they did another, as you say.
Best regards,
Lawrie. |
