the remote locking only works at short range and intermittently. The remote has been tested and is OK. If I lock the car with the key it sets the alarm. So I suspect the Receiver PN RH14033. Does anyone where this is located, Flyspares say the boot Intro car say under the dash roll. Any help appreciated John B |

Sorry this is over a year now, but have just been 'prodded' by the Club's email.
The remote locking on the 1996 era Conti R (and possibly similar Turbo Rs) is not as good as most modern cars. I had same problem of short range / intermittent operation. Although you may think your transmitter units (the 'plips') are OK (because the little red light works) often they are just not transmitting at any useful power. Both of mine gave up the ghost, at around the 60,000 mile 'hydraulic' service.
Royce Engineering (who were undertaking the service for me) have a specialist who will refurbish the 'plips'. It's not cheap (is anything?) but it fixed the problem for me (on both transmitter units). Just made the 'hydraulic' service that bit more eye-watering - but 'you can't take it with you'!
If you haven't got the problem fixed by now, give Royce a call. |

The experts for this (who themselves supply Bentley) are :
Bowling-Ryan Ltd.
Bolton
Tel. 01204 700300
My 1994 Conti. R’s alarm ECU’s and remotes were replaced by them in 2005 (by a previous previous owner) and still seem to function perfectly (touch wood!)
I think you will find that Lancashire prices are nowhere near as high as in the depths of Surrey. |

Thanks for your help. As i had 3 problems Alarm, Cruise and Auto lights, I finally bit the bullet and had the car in at H R Owen Hatfield. Now fixed and working well. The 4th issue is the Drivers Information Panel, which in daylight, after 3 or 4 mins starts to dim. It appears not to be the Dimmer Switch but the DIP itself. The DIP seems to be jolly expensive, so i may learn to live with this issue. any help here would be appreciated |
