I am looking for a good photo, or drawing to copy, to make a boot top mounted luggage rack for my 1936 3.5L Thrupp and Maberley Saloon.
All ideas welcome!

Sorry, Bob: I've only just noticed your post -- and having done so, and also knowing nothing about the boot-top (or -lid) on a Thrupp & Maberley 3.5 Derby, this is probably quite useless (it's not a "rack", for a start!)...but you did say "all ideas welcome"..!!

Here's the arrangement I had made 12 years ago for a UK-Tuscany trip in my MkVI with 3 pax & bags:

I only use this boot-box when it's going to be a long single trip, and I can load the 'not-wanted-on-voyage' passenger bags inside the boot itself; and the boot-box then gets all the rags, potions, 1st-aid kit, etc., etc.

(Bags for the enroute overnight stops get to ride on one or both of the rear seats/floor. There is also still access to the spare-wheel compartment, jack, etc.)

It's made from varnished marine ply & mahogany, and its attachment straps use the standard MkVI loops in the front & rear of the bootlid itself (see below), with cut-outs into the box for the also-standard folding suitcase-stops.

Don't suppose this will help much; but it might jog a little grey cell somewhere!

Peter

Thanks Peter - that is very impressive, but not quite what I meant.
I am wishing to copy the type of rack that was originally fitted when new.
Somebody out there must have one????

Spotted this advert, there are a number of photos showing a boot rack.

Thanks John. That is a superb car and is the drophead version of mine - so we are getting closer! However that is not the boot rack style that I am after. The type I have in mind is on the T&M car featuring heavily in the "On The Road" publications, registered BUW31.
Thank you for taking the time to reply anyway, much appreciated.

Hello again, Bob. A friend of mine whom I asked about the kind of rack you're seeking (because he has one on the boot-top of his Silver Wraith) thinks there is an outfit near Westbury, Wessex Workshops Ltd (which advertises as hood and windscreen frame makers), which might also be capable of producing such racks.

Their tel. no. is 01373 823513 - might be worth a try..
