Hi All!

I didn't see tying up space with a truly no Bentley topic but a Happy New Year to all. It is also my Birth Day, and I have turned the young age of 67!

Friday is our Inauguration Day which strangely is not a holiday but probably should be since it only occurs every 4 years on January 20. Mr Trump is our new to be President and I wish him well.

Any way good to post again as I have been on holiday in the mountains of north Georgia. Quite beautiful and we had snow which never happens in Florida. I am glad my B stays in a good climate and garaged.

Our modern car took quite a beating in the ice, snow, and de-icing agents put on the roads.

I was think that a rally in the Georgia mountains would be grand fun for any of the south eastern BDC members. I saw that there was a great rally in Maine.

I guess I got back to my passion without meaning too.

Cheers!!

George

Hi Guys!

Thanks for the well wishes!

I have been so busy with work that I have not had much time to post so that is a resolution for the New Year! To make more time for chatting.

I saw that there was a question about the autobiography by WO. I did not know he had written one. I must check this out as it is most likely a fascinating read.

Once again thanks for the posts!

George

George,
There are four "autobiographical" accounts supposedly written by W O Bentley, but actually "Ghost" written by Richard Hough, from tape recorded meetings with W O.

1) "W.O." published in 1958,
2) "The Cars in My Life" 1961.
3) "An Illustrared History of the Bentley Cars........" 1964.
4) "My Cars and My Life Cars" 1967.

Prices are between £20 and £50, all are very "readable".

There are several others as"homages".

Retrospectives like these, written wearing rose tinted spectacles do not convey the realities, which must have been rather damaging, and he did not as the historians write "join Armstrong Siddeley" , but actually he and Donald Bastow set up a consultancy in Weybridge after leaving Lagonda, and A S was a client.

Incidentally, Mr Mozart "ghost" wrote music for wealthy patrons, and David Raskin wrote music credited to Charlie Chaplin.
