The "E" word (exclusive) has made an unwelcome appearance in the BDC's events listings. I take it as meaning "not you Stephen", and move on. The dreaded "C" word (celebrity) has already made it to the RREC causing a pal to write a letter of resignation.
Against this background, I was intrigued to note that the world now has "Exclusive" repossessions, a cut above normal hoi polloi repossessions, presumably.

Managing to retain some dignity amongst the monogrammed tat is B166FA, a '58 S1 which presents well (but may the usual rot-box underneath for all we know). It's got receipts for a recon gearbox and a partial retrim.
It's a funny way to dispose of such a thing, so the price may be limited by the small audience.
It is reported that used car, classic car and property values have risen during lockdown, so I'm not expecting to see it go for a song.
BTW, this is the first post in the Crewe Cars up to T Type section since September 2019. Make of that what you will.

I am converting a 1953 R Type engine that had had a factory rebuild in 1958 ish, to a 4.9 litre version.
Not only that, the client asks for an S1 high compression head with HD8 carbs to to be fitted.
The head I found was a completely stripped out later type, so imagine the tedium of building that up, with the general rubbish available.
Not only that I have had to make 39 studs out of EN16 as I could not find anyone to work it.
I had swapped Jeremy Padgett two HD8,s for a selector mechanism for,the project before the motor came, so I am working on fitting a pair of Jagwar HD8,s onto a milled S1 manifold.
Before you ask, the client had already bought a load of scraped up robbed out sh-te, that I seem to be a sucker for.
Shades of the blue Benters???? |

Dear Stephen.
I may have to report you ro the 'management'.
Your sarcastic email misses out all the really special words of description. 'Exclusive' is used about everything from washing machine powder to (for all I know) the Club T shirts with ENORMOUS badges proclaiming our loyalty, BUT the Louis Vuitton sports shoes are, wait for it,...………...Limited edition! Now obviously we are talking true class! I for one (even though I have an 11D foot, which is universally joked about in the 'shoe trade' as being an 'expensive' foot, because nobody makes 11D's anymore) will be bidding on those size 9's.
Real class through and through. My Father and Grandfather were both MBE's but it is difficult to drop into conversations (although obviously it is about the same as being a Lord, or maybe a King?).
Louis Vuitton sports shoes! I want them more than I wanted Jane Fawcett at age 15, and while her name was not Louis Vuitton, she did have enormous breasts (although not as big on the ones on the Club T shirts obviously).
Can you just imagine the impact? On a hot, south of France day, stepping out of the Black Sapphire Arnage Red Label to hear the local youf's of today saying in French the equivalent of, "Cor Blimy Guv! You may have an old banger but strike a light! Get a look at those LV's! Are they limited editions? Can I have your child?". A guaranteed council house awaits!
It is a shallow old world when some poor misguided (and poorly educated fellow) will pay 600 Sobs for some trainers made out of cheap leather, PVC and child labourers tears.
I remember when Churches shoes were NOT foreign owned............it's a sad old world......... |

That,s nothing, Barkers shoes are made in India and have been for some time, along with Clarks.
I find Trickers a little heavy. |

Don't get me started on iconic British brands being taken over by foreign owners, who haven't the faintest idea what those brands stand for, but are happy to milk them mercilessly; Barbour, Cadburys, Branston pickle, Newcastle Brown, Dr Martin, Morgan, Land Rover, Bentley (whoops!)
Welcome to the forum, Paul and thank you for lightening the current darkness. BTW, I loved your job title in your introductory post. It reminded me of the wild west days at Microsoft when people were allowed to write their own job titles. My favourite was the "Software Goddess". Beat that. |

There is nothing more iconic than "China", the Dutch and the English went mad for it, "my old china plate". |
