My 1994 front seats both work electrically, having had a replacement ECU for the passenger seat.
However I find that the drivers seat which is lower than the passenger seat still makes it an effort to clamber in.
If it were a convertible I could hop in over the doors.
My question,
is there any manual adjustment. maybe where the seat bolts into the floor, that would allow me to lower the seats.
I ask as my osteopath insists that to save further damage to my back I need to sit on the seat and swing my legs into the car together. At the moment when I sit on the seat the roof wants to chop off the top of my head, even if I force my head onto my chest.
Does this mean I will have to dispose of my toy. |

Would it be worthwhile obtaining a similar sear from a scrapped car (I imagine some luck would be required in finding one!), and then investigating with an upholsterer what could be done with the seat cushion to lower it, or even modify the whole frame.
To mess about with the original sounds like courting disaster if things don’t go well😱 |

Wise words John, wonder if I could get away with just redesigning the seat base squabs, make them a couple of inches slimmer. Will see if I can find more info on the seats sizes. |

I've asked John Bowling at Bowling-Ryan if he could lower my seat somehow but the answer came back no. |

This is also the answer that I have now received from other sources. Having spent more than I should have on the vehicle I am loathe to sell it. But I am not sure my back is going to accept me having to squirm into the car. I just wonder how anyone over 6ft manages.
There was a page I found that gave body measurements and the Brooklands door hight was the shortest I believe, but cannot seem to find it again. |

All SZ front doors are the same dimensions throughout the range over time I believe. This image from Autocar of a Rolls-Royce Spirit test gives interior measurements. The only change to front doors I know of is the repositioned exterior mirror from 1996 onwards with the loss of the front quarter light.

Interesting that a dip in the floorpan is shown as I'm lead to believe on Continental R the same can be used to effectively lower the seat by making them travel further back. |
