Having bought my car for a known dealer who I would not touch with a bargepole again-Typical take the money and run merchant!!-I'm wondering about Tyre pressures.
The tyres were inflated to over 70psi by these chumps.
I have dropped the pressures to about 42 which is still higher than the period books I now have recommend. I am a very experienced Pre and post war motorcycle fellow and on bikes we run with modern manufacture tyres about 50% higher than original manufactures recommendation due to tyre construction changes.
Anybody care to advise me please?

The steering is very heavy at low speeds, and the chumpspumpemup.
All the joints are deliberately tight for damping and wander.
Try 30 in the back and 26 in the front and see how the car feels
What tyres are you running on?
I only buy new cars, these days. |

Arthur, I agree with Chris, go low. I have been gradually reducing mine over time due to excessive central tread wear at higher pressures. I'm now down to around 27 all round and will probably go down a tad more before I'm done. |

There is a technique for establishing correct tyre pressures by experimentation. Do a Google search for "tyre pressure chalk test" or similar. |

Just FYI. I did this. It either didn't work for my tyres or I did it wrong. The resulting higher pressures led to my uneven wear. |
