| Are you saying you wish to drop in a V8 into a Mk6 Bentley ( what age )which has a manual gearbox. Is the gearbox the original type for that vehicle. Just want to make sure I have the request correct. |

| Hi, Yes I was wondering if it was possible to adapt original mk6 manual box to V8. I have a V8 engine and auto box from carb set up early Bentley Eight, I would like to retain original manual box if possible. I believe there are V8 mk6 specials with this set up so just wish to plunder some brains |

Yes it can be done but you need an adaptor plate. Best contact Paul Forty as he has done a few.
Your gearbox will have to be in perfect condition and with the final "W2" thrust washer modification, along with an 11" plate clutch and flywheel. |

Paul is in the Membership Directory which you can access through the Membership tab near the top of this web page.
The famous Padgett Gadget has an S Type V8 and a MKVI gearbox. When racing at Silverstone, and once under way, Mike H does the entire race in top to preserve the gearbox. I haven't asked what gear he sets off in, but there does seem to be a mismatch between his rather sedate departure from the line and his furious pace thereafter. |
