Looks like a very good resource. It's a pity people with such interests and engineering knowledge do not use this forum for the benefit of other BDC members.

I was disappointed by the recent article on Guidance for E10 fuel. It told us nothing and simply said talk to your specialist who maintains your car. Doesn't the club realise that not everyone pays someone else to maintain their cars. This is a car club and it should give real advice to owners, rather than maintain its elitist attitude to ownership of our vintage cars.

Hi there,

Unfortunately the members with in depth knowledge seldom send in articles to the forum. Times have changed, the owners of our WO cars are no longer in the hands of starry eyed enthusiasts that enjoyed getting grease under their fingernails but are now just investment objects owned by companies, that just get their annual outing at the BDC concourse.

Just keep looking at my blog, I try to keep it interesting, no adverts, just WO stuff for true enthusiasts.

Best,

Alan

I, for one, will not be going to the Concours. I see no point in sitting in a garden looking at cheque book cars, but not having the benefit of trade stands, dealers, good food outlets, etc. Why does it cost an extra fee to enter the competition?
Is there a rule that all cars must be driven to the Concours from their normal abode? If not, why not?

Nicholas,
It`s a deep disappointment for members that have been in the club since the seventies, that the comradeship and helpfulness of members then has all but gone.
Now the club is all about wealth and status and the flashy club magazines reinforce this. Snobbery has always been there and is rife in most car clubs but sadly we will never be able to go back to those simpler more innocent times that we enjoyed so much, such is life!
To give an example, go into my blog and click on "The Jimmy Medcalf Lectures" and read about what the club used to be like.
I wonder what will happen in the near future when all cars will be driven by electricity or hydrogen, it will be a field day for those grasping restorers, mounting batteries and electric motors into our WO`s and farewell to that "bloody great thump".
Hmm, bet you that someone will market a sound track of this thump to be played as these electric WO`s drive along our ever overcrowded roads.
