Hi, I'm trying to tighten a door mirror but I'm struggling to access the nut. I've removed the screws around the door frame which hold the wooden insert in around the window but I can't remove the wooded insert. I think they are held in by some screws positioned under the wooden frame at the bottom of the window. If so, I need to removed the leather panel on the inside of the door. I've removed the arm rest, window and door handle but the leather panel is still firmly in place. Does anyone know if this needs a pull or what the procedure is to remove the panel. |

Paul, the door card panel is attached to the door frame with spring clips. You can either use a broad bladed screwdriver or preferably purchase a special thin U shaped tool which is pushed between the card and the frame and is used to lever the panel away from the frame. To replace the panel it is a matter of positioning it accurately using the clips and then pushing the panel gently when the clips will retain it in position. The tool is not Bentley specific and won’t be expensive and I would start off checking with someone like Moss Europe for example.

Such tools are available cheaply on Ebay. |

Insert a broad electricians bolster (chisel) into the bottom edge,
lever a few clips out and then get both hands in.
By this time the clips will have rusted and may detach from the panel.
Another dubious delight from owning an old car. |

Martin | Many thanks everybody, it did just need gentle levering/pulling, the door mirror is now fixed tightly.

I’m pleased that you have managed to rectify the problem Paul.
