My brother's 56 S1 has a "Smith's" switch on the B-pillar (right behind driver). The owner's manual doesn't seem to mention it, neither my brother nor my dad (who owned the car since 2009) recall what it is for, and it doesn't currently seem to do anything.

Well, mystery solved after a bit more trial.
It turns out this is for the dome light, however it hadn't occurred to me that the dome light can only be turned on when the car lights are on. |
