Chris has brought this to my attention. Another bit of Bentley folk-lore of which I was unaware so once again the forum educates and entertains?
It will be interesting to see the extent of the provenance premium. I'm rubbish at predicting auction outcomes and they often seem pretty random anyway so I'm just going to keep an open mind on this one. |

Fascinating. I'm in Monaco that weekend with the BDC and there's a public preview so I may well take a look. |

Sorry to nit pick but it's a shame they couldn't fit the top radiator hose on the correct way round especially considering its provenance.

Don't get me started on cars at auction. They turn up with an inch thick layer of two pack on them with a finish you could swim in, but look underneath and there hasn't been a grease-monkey there for decades.
I used to do some photography for Coldwell Engineering. Folks used to buy cars at auction then send them there for "a service" so they could go touring. It was one of John Cockayne's less pleasant duties to phone his clients and break the news to them. According to his staff, these conversations became, shall we say, much less euphemistic as he got older. |

Martin,
George Giese formerly of Oregon, sold this car to the present owner about 3 years ago for $54,000.
I mentioned that the corrugations were the wrong way round, but it seems to me that Rolls Royce(to certain former colonists) was situated in Detroit!
Apart from the respray and some repairs, the car is totally original. |
