Taking the Bentley to Portugal.

Being used to paying peanuts ( comparatively ) to car ferry across to Calais, I was somewhat shocked to learn the ferry cost to Spain ( there would seem to be no direct ferries to Portugal ). It is over £1000 per car even midweek and off season mid September. Anyone know of any means by which a discount can be obtained ?

Also, I have toured virtually every European and Scanwegian countries by car ; anyone got any tips/ advice about touring Portugal ?
