Stripping down my MkVI for rebuild as a Special

My chassis is now naked and nothing obviously untoward found. I've just started to take apart the front and rear suspension and some of the 69 year old rubbers appear to be wonderful condition. Others are woeful.

Does one need to go to the Bentley vendors for replacement parts or has somebody already mapped alternatives - possibly even in polyurethane (unless even murmuring modern materials is a capital offence)!

They are all peculiar to the R-R/B chassis, try Theo Hendrickson in Leeds first of all for the parts. 01132559908.

That are the steel ball ends like?

Thanks Chris - the steel balls ends are really rather good - I have 2 of each hand so will select the shiniest for rebuild.

So clean, the car must have been a dry warm climate. I have had them when they looked like a burned match end.

I have a hub puller somewhere in the shed, so I will look later on.

The bearings on the chassis up to the GT series are Imperial ball races, but if you can,t pull the hubs off, then we can talk about availability.

The "history" of these "anonymous" parts is a bit of an illusion, so treat the bones as you find them, where DR exhumed them from may shed a little light

The only gen in Bernards book is that it was offered on ebay by a Mr Anderson from South Carolina in 2005.
