Hopefully it hasn’t seen the light of day very often.

It becomes even worse when you peer beneath the surface, clearly from the atelier of Cobbol de Tupp.

Why does it remind me of sweet pretentious Amber Butchcart the fashion historian?

So that is the special that TO was on about, batch of 7!

I did check that it wasn't owned by a member before I posted!

School for Scoundrels was on TV recently and I thought there was something recognisable about the car. The site you mention says it's a 4 1/2, but I'd have thought this picture looks more like a three, though it seems distorted and maybe I'm missing something.

According to Clare Hay, its Ch. AB3363
It seems to have had a number of bodies and is now a vdp tourer.

Yes, I've seen that, but doesn't it look as though the car in the picture I posted has a fixed starting handle?
Perhaps the photo is misleading or a different car.

I didn’t mean that the school for scoundrels car and the subject vehicle were one and the same originally, merely that the one put me in mind of the other. And I ain’t saying which is which!

See what you mean!
Perhaps the starter had packed up and they had just inserted the handle.

I'm surprised the estimate is so high, especially compared to a standard R-Type. It will be interesting to see what it actually achieves.

On the design side of things I can't quite tell what they're going for. It has the large fin inline with the driver, an iconic feature of the D-type Jaguar. This is an aerodynamic feature, but I can't see the point with those two spare tires/bobtail body on the other side of the car. A related note, why are the rear wheels bigger than the fronts? Make them all the same and you only need one spare tire. To further confuse things the front of the car wants to be a vintage Bentley. Vintage Bentleys, and most vintage cars actually, are really tall, but they cut the front down on this car. In fact it is cut down so much that the body has to hump up for the windscreen.
I'm not opposed to Bentley Specials, just badly done ones.

Cruft's is usually held in March, well worth entering it.
