Bentley GTC - wet passenger footwell

Hello all. I am a new BDC member. I have a Bentley Continental GTC MY2008 and have found yesterday that the passenger foot well is very wet. I have done some research on the Internet and understand there are a lot of electrics on the left hand side of the car. Can anyone advise please if they know of or have had similar issues. I will be booking the car into the main dealer this week, but if anyone can recommend a good independent specialist than that would also be welcome. I am from North London. Many thanks.

I have just had a very expensive repair to my GT that entailed replacing a faulty starter motor. This requires the removal of the engine and is tabled at over 30 hours. Unbelievably it is impossible to change the starter without this action that also requires most of the front suspension, exhaust system and other components to be removed. Add to that the cost of the starter motor, regassing the AC, coolants, oil and a great number of other things and it is not hard to see why the bill was stratospheric. Bentley motors seemed to know a bit about this and recommended that a control unit fitted adjacent to the passenger footwell be replaced as it can cause the malfunction if it gets wet. I understand that a blocked drain in this area can cause rainwater to spill on the unit. Have it all checked out, get it dry and change the module and starter relay if in any doubt. For reference the module is £646.45, relay £33.21 plus VAT plus labour. Good luck but act fast - you do NOT want to have the engine out!

Another thing that can dampen a footwell is leakage from air conditioning drain. I have this periodically in the Conti R. Fortunately, it has not (so far) resulted in any significant derangements; and mercifully, engine-out is a rare necessity for the SZ cars.

Thank you for the responses. Bentley had the car for a couple of days and have unblocked the plenum chamber drains and all seems to be fine now. Caught it early so no further complications.
