I hate to rehash the properties of RR363 brake fluid.
But, for clarity, are the lubrication additives only there to protect the hydraulic pumps or is the lubricant necessary for other components?
The reason I ask is for my particular special case. I have replaced the original camshaft-driven pumps with WABCO electric pumps, accumulators, and pressure switches from a Rover P38. This was done in order to retain the brake and leveling systems in my '67 T-series. The WABCO are perfectly happy with plain DOT3.
The pumps have the same specifications as the Citroen pumps and the brakes work beautifully. |

The RR363 fluid formulation is to protect the neoprene hoses and rubber seals throughout the system. |

Isn't preservation of the seals and hoses the property of the DOT3 formulation. RR363 is DOT3 with a lubricant. |

Any more insight into this topic?
I have always believed that the lubricant in RR363 is for the mechanical pumps. These piston pumps run constantly from the camshaft so need to be lubricated. If it were not for the pumps, regular DOT3 would work..
I have replaced the original pumps with WABCO vane-type pumps as used in Range Rovers. Rover only recommendes DOT3.
I still use RR363 until I'm comfortable with the operation of the system.
Thanks in advance,
