Is it me, or can I say that I am perplexed that the electrics do not have upgrades on these cars, to being modernised and even miniaturised. it appears that the 90's electrics are prone to suffer from damp conditions. Can I ask can one get replacement looms and various ECU's that are in abundance, that decide on their own as to when they should actually work. Maybe we as owners have cosseted the vehicles too much.
Don't get me wrong I enjoy my Brooklands, but thought maybe we could make it more reliable with modern technology, lets face it, things have improved beyond thought possible 30 years ago.
Maybe I have not delved far enough into the Bentley knowledge and this is already available.
I await replies with interest.

Have you read this thread, a bit depressing and probably out of date now, but some of the firms mentioned may be useful.

Oh dear now that was depressing and nothing has changed I presume.
I was chatting to a very knowledgable chap this week about this and his reply was that there has been no improvement even with the VW built cars, more the reverse. Which explained to me why there are so many cheap ones on the market. They suffer with ingress of rain and electronics are still leaving a lot to be desired. I am led to believe Dick Turpin still supplies parts.
So how do high volume production cars do so much better.
My oldish Rav 4. coped enormously well.

Modern cars are wonderful, they do so many things really well, for many hundreds of thousands of miles, but with a life of probably fifteen years before the electronics start giving problems. The simpler the car, especially with a good quality build, the greater the chance of keeping things going with a reasonably well equipped workshop. It doesn’t surprise me, but does sadden me, that the more recent cars can be a problem.

Another point to ponder, the rear screens on the SZ, have you noticed how many have delaminated glass mainly along the bottom edge. The cause, well known, the rubber surround gets old and porous, I ask is it ever changed. I know the answer. it is cheaper to run a tape on the glass and tint on the inside.
And to think I used to feel sorry for all those TVR owners. Laughing

While my mind is wondering the corridors of possibilities, I ask could not my headlamps be rewired using standard relays. As it seems that this circuit or ECU always gives trouble.
So I am asking if anyone has a headlamp wiring plan/diagram for the SZ 4 headlight models.
My other question is do the headlamp washers have to work for the MOT.

See here Philip

It appears that you are safe if they are not working. Having said that I do think that headlamp wash is very good and is one of the few options that I would pay for if not standard.

Kind regards
Paul
