It would appear the Steering Rack Solenoid Valve on my 2002 Arnage has malfunctioned, however a replacement would seem to be unavailable from the usual sources. Clearly Bentley do not manufacture the steering racks or indeed the solenoid valve and as the motor industry frequently use the same parts in different models, does anybody know which other vehicle uses the same steering rack/solenoid valve as the Arnage? Alternatively, does anyone know where I can get a suitable replacement solenoid valve, part no PH57666PA. |

Christopher is correct, Martin. I have tried Flying Spares, Inftocar and Bentley...... all are out of stock and no indication when the part will be available. I am currently investigating breakers and the USA but no luck as yet, hence my enquiry on the forum. |

Am I correct in thinking that the Arnage was initially powered by a BMW engine? Is it likely therefore that other parts are BMW sourced, so regarding the solenoid valve, (which surely cannot be unique to the Arnage) would it be worthwhile investigating the 7 series BMW. The design was by Vickers so I can’t imagine they were too fussy as to who’s parts bin they raided. (I know things were heavily revised after a year or so).
I do feel that this type of problem is one that the club should be getting involved with, it seems to be hard enough to cross reference parts for quite recent cars, cars from the 1980’s to early 2000’s must be even more difficult. |

John,
The original Arnage (Green Label) had a turbocharged BMW 4.4 litre V8 engine. Due to concerns about further supplies during the BMW and VW take overs, the original 6.75 litre R-R V8 was installed, as the Red Label.
The R-R V8 engine production line had been sold to Cosworth Engineering, (who had produced the turbo charger for the BMW V , then re-purchased by Crewe where production for the revised R-R V8 began in a new assembly line. Production of that engine ceased about 2 years ago. |

Marc, If you have not been successful in your search, perhaps you could try Albers Bentley in Zionsville Indiana. They always have an extensive stock of sometimes hard to find parts for our cars. I have used them in the past with success so give them a go.

Good luck

Many thanks for your interest.
I have left a message a couple of weeks ago on their contact page but no response yet.
I will continue to look.
Cheers

If only VAG had used the 40,000 Blower hours for something useful, like addressing the dreadful Crewe spares situation. V8 head gasket, anyone? |
