My original front seat leather is deteriorating badly. I’m looking for original leather, seats, partial or whole to reconstruct or replace my seats. It’s only the front of the backrest, and the seat cushions.
My seats are red, but any color would work.
Also, any tips you have on how to fix seats retaining the original look and feel would be much appreciated.
Cheers
/Frederic |

Hi Frederic,
What year is your car? I've got a couple of seats from a '47 austerity era MKVI which you are most welcome to have. They have spent most of their life in storage and are very dry but would respond to a bucket of hide food. They are in Derbyshire, England. Do you ever come this way?
There is no shortage of MK VI seats as they are left over from special builds. I suggest you put a wanted advert in the Advertiser which has a much bigger readership than the forum. There are special builders in Sweden.
Kind regards,
Stephen |

Hi Stephen, that’s good news! I was just telling my mother (who bought the car in 1972) that we might be in luck if someone building a special might have kept seats in storage My MKVI is from 1952. I’m in Stockholm Sweden, so I’m looking for someone who don’t mind shipping them. I know it’s a lot to ask, but would you consider shipping them?
I’ll put an ad in the Advertiser as well, thanks for the tip! |

I believe that Stephens seats are the early plain un-pleated ones.
There is a guy on ebay who is selling a whole body, removed for a special.
Contact Peris Edwards at Racing Green Engineering, they have loads from donor cars,or contact Flying Spares. |

Christopher is right. The '47 seats are very different from those in a '52. There are some out there for you somewhere. Good luck. |

Hi Frederic,
I have the old seat covers for my 1953 R Type DHC. I had my front seats recovered and the trimmer returned the old covers and some earlier ones that were found underneath those he replaced. They are mid to dark blue, fluted backrests but plain seat squab. You're welcome to them for the cost of the postage.
Kind regards, Richard |
