| What is the general consensus for the mpg expected from a 3 litre with a tourer body? |

Did the filling station attendant ask you to turn the engine off, as it was beating the pump delivery ?

My car now sports a 4 1/2 block and now does 15/16mpg. When a pure 3 it did 17/18mpg.
It seems to make little difference how fast one drives! |

| Thanks, John. I did a really good drive on Sunday and was able to do a reasonably accurate calculation. I was surprised to get 18-19 mpg on a 3 litre with twin slopers which surprised me. |

| Unable to answer the original question but can confirm 4.5 (original 4.5 engine, not a conversion) gives 15 mpg on average. Short runs not quite so good. |

Hi Nicholas,
I used to have a speed model 3 litre red label tourer vdp replica, big sump engine. It had overdrive and a C-Type gearbox and speed model back axle , 3.78:1.
On a good run in overdrive top I used to get 19/20 mpg.
