If you find an answer please let me know. I can raise the screen on the dashboard but the handset- with new battery- has no effect. It still sounds at 70 with a mighty screech at 90. |

I have an Arnage, MY07, but have never heard these warnings.
Sorry, I do not have a spare manual but it's not that helpful regarding this anyway.
As David suggests, there's a speed warning option on the navigation system. This might be what you're looking for.
I'll try to remember to play with the settings the next time I go out.
David, if we ever meet up again, you're welcome to use my remote to try changing the settings on your system. |

I think my problem relates to the lack of satnav discs - I don't have any and use a Garmin instead. If anybody has an unwanted set of suitable discs, I'd be pleased to make a modest payment or charitable donation to the WOBMF. |

I'm kinda new around here, but I hope by now you've discovered how to reset this annoying Overspeed Warning !
1. It's fitted to all Arnages (and Seraphs ?), but should ONLY be set ON for Middle East cars.
2. I have a US version 2007 Arnage R, and it set itself ON, probably after my batteries went flat and I replaced them.
3. Mine started 'beeping' at 72MPH and got louder with speed.
4. To reset it:
Get in car, Key to 'ON', but don't start the engine
Press and Hold both the Trip and Cancel buttons until the DIP (Info screen between the gauges) goes blank (takes maybe 10 sec).
Release both buttons, then immediately press and hold them again.
When the DIP displays SN (Serial Number) and SW (Software level) press Trip again.
You should then get a list of items you can change. Scroll thru them with the Trip, change them with the Cancel.
If you don't do anything for maybe 30 sec it will 'time-out' and revert to the normal display. This is how you exit the process too.
If you don't get this far, turn the key off and try again from step 1.
The item you want to change is 'Overspeed Warning'
From memory. the other items are Language, Miles/km, degF/degC and a few others.
As I used to tell my students in computer classes, I STRONGLY recommend you change 1 thing at a time then test it. If it acts weird, you know exactly what caused it !
To exit, just wait for the time-out. It will make your changes effective upon exit.
5. These instructions are in IETIS 'Assist' (Workshop Manual), procedure P32150RB. There is NOTHING in the Owners Manuals that references this 'hidden' sub-menu !
I hope this helps any future Arnage owners too.
Good luck. Jeremy |

Thank you for your most helpful post. Surely Bentley could have found an easier way to do it!
I sold my Arnage 3 months ago in fear of massive bills around the corner, so I'll not have the chance to try this remedy.
In spite of the heat in the UK today, we have a sea breeze in the West Wight and it is very pleasant indeed. |

Thanks for responding, even though you've sold your Arnage. It's always nice to 'close the loop'.
In thinking about your comment - I think Bentley could have done it a better way, but they deliberately designed the Arnage interior to hide the technology !
Hence the nav screen that retracts into the rolltop, and the 3 beautiful wood panels that hide the radio, minor switchgear and seat adjustments.
These cars were designed in the 90's by an old-school company, and Luxury back then meant wood, leather and machined metal. Technology was a necessary evil.
The next generation VW-era Bentleys changed all that...

I live in Florida, where it's cooler than the UK right now ! |

Although my sole car is the 3ltr of 1924, I think the technology is fantastic in the more modern cars, I am just appalled that generally speaking there seems to be little information available to help with the repair/replacement of electronic components. What happened to the original designs and specifications of ECU’s and ECM’s? Without them it will be impossible to keep most of these cars running. |

I wonder if the problem is particularly acute for the Arnage as it uses BMW tech, and the spares support is via VAG? I can imagine the former would not be too forthcoming with their algorithms, however antiquated, especially the emission control code. The latter hasn’t always been squeaky clean legit, industry-wide.
The apparent lack of fairly mundane body and trim parts is less easy to explain. |
