How do I remove a 1949 MK6 steering wheel. The manual has a plate with 3 screws, under the chromed screw out button. I don't have that. I have a small hole at the rear of the steering wheel, too small for a wrench, and i can't see a screwdriver slot.

Hi Fred,
First of all you have to remove all the engine levers from below the steering box and the large tabbed nut.
A pain, or then you could forget it?
See MK VI workshop manual S,Q BQ1. |

Chris is quite correct Fred,
It’s a real palaver to remove the steering wheel. If you really need to and you don’t have a workshop manual, go to the Rolls-Royce Owners Club of Australia post war technical library where you will find all the relevant information.

Yes Martin, and it is Free of Charge.
From about 15 years ago, this is what you see when the tubes are tapped upwards.
The small hole is for inserting a thinned down 2 BA box spanner for the set screws, but it is very fiddly.
Then the top will lift off, watch out for the horn wire.
