Looking for WO brake backing plates, shoes, drums.
Any condition. Will be making patterns and casting new items for my own project so condition is not a significant issue. |

Hi Jayde,
Welcome to the forum. Do bear in mind that the club has drawings of many of the parts so it may not be necessary to find samples.
Please keep us informed about your project. I'm interested because I do a bit of pattern making myself, for the local steam buffs.
This is one activity that has changed out of all recognition during my lifetime. Like everyone else, I 3D print the patterns. Draft and shrinkage are added by a few mouse clicks. I started my career at Weslake, which had its own pattern shop where patterns were whittled out of wood just like they had been for millennia. |

Hi Stephen,
That bronze casting that I showed you had been founded by the "lost wax" process, cire perdu, or investment casting.
You noticed that there was no pattern draw, and the complexity of it.
I believe that Blackgates picked it up from Norman Spink, who marketed the "Wilwau" castings, ie William Waugh.
Try a reprint of "Pattern making........", by L H Hand.
How are your agapanthus doing, I have loads of stalks, and a few coming into flower? |

Hi Stephen,
Thanks for the reply and advice. I'm glad you mentioned the drawings, this is something that interests me. Can you please tell me how I get access to the drawings?
Kind regards
Jayde |
