There is a bronze insert sitting inside the turret casting which moves with the magneto, facilitating timing adjustment.
Does this insert come out easily or is it necessary to dismantle the turret?
Having had both the magnetos out for rebuild, I now have oil leaking out of the fitting. I replaced the mag gaskets when refitting so I am assuming these inner gaskets have been disturbed.
Advice gratefully received.

Hi David. Hopefully you have this sorted by now. I recently did this on our 1929 4 1/2. You need to turn the engine so that the drive laminate bolt can be extracted through the top of the housing. There is a threaded brass plug, for access.
Then remove the laminates and drove yoke. its splined and mine was not to tight. I think I lightly chased it out with a drift and small hammer.
Then the brass housing can be removed. There is a gasket behind each one. The gasket set the end float on the mag drives.
I sourced all of the parts from Vintage Bentley. They were very helpful.
And had excerpts from the manual. They time the mags with the laminates horizontal when the 45 mark on the flywheel is up. I did that as well , so if in the future I am not the one to work on it next , there will be some continuity. Also i had a small L bracket affixed to the bench, with which to hold the Mags.
This made it very easy to time the mags and yokes.
Also my water pump was out, which made the whole job easier.
Best of luck
Jeff Harris
