|
|
Does anyone know the width of the GT (2015 to 2018 version) with the mirrors folded? The .pdf brochure for the period only gives the full width (inc mirrors) and the "body width" but unclear if that includes the folded mirrors. Just that I want to run a 'garage compatibility check'!
Or if someone with a GT of that period could tell me how far the mirrors 'stick-out' from the body when folded, that would help.
Many thanks |

If you can only get the car into the garage with the mirrors folded, will you be able to get out of the car when you have driven in? My rule with my classic cars is that at least one door should be able to be fully opened in the garage, preferably both doors. |

a good point. Fortunately, the garage (inside) is very wide - it is just the door width that is the limiting factor (and for structural reasons, can't be widened). |

In such an instance, my recommendation is always to measure something oneself, and never take another person's word. |

That is a good point. Next visit to Bentley I'm going armed with tape measure and spirit level; the salesperson is going to think I've lost my mind! Even better would be they let me drive it home for a real-life test. Just waiting for the 'right' Bentley to surface.... |

Widest point of a Generation 2 car is mirror tip to mirror tip. When the mirrors are retracted, the widest point is between the upper edges of the rear wheel arches. 1935mm.
As has been pointed out, best check for yourself. |

Hi David, many thanks for that information. It sounds very similar to our current XJ (which fits the garage fine). I will do a real-life check as advised, but the info the widest point is across the wheel-arches (with mirrors folded) is reassuring, and certainly passes the 'paperwork' test. The car would fit through the door gap with mirrors extended (just) but I would plan (as I do with the XJ) to retract the mirrors passing the door gap to be on the safe side. |
