Does anyone have any tips for refitting the collets? I have used an old valve spring compressor G clamp type arrangement and this is fully compressing the spring and giving somewhat difficult access to the valve stem but I have now spent some 10 hours trying to fit the collets. I have tried hands only and achieved one collet on once, but as I cannot rotate the valve Icannot get the ideal position to fit the other. I have tried using a magnetic screw driver and a mirror but failed, then an endescope to not have to invert image whilst manipulating but no luck. I have also tried watchmakers self clamping tweezers but these easily end up ' firing ' the collet which rather scares me and leads to much searching to recover said collet. I have blocked all engine holes I could loose the collet into. I wonder if my hands or fingers are just to big. Any tips from one who has achieved this feat greatly appreciated.

Try sticking them on with a blob of yellow hub grease.

Thank you for the responses , I have now solved the problem by buying 1mm by 2mm round rear earth magnets and epoxy gluing them to cocktail sticks. I could then get them into position using a mirror to view.. I could nut do this with fingers without dislodging the one I had managed to lodge with grease.
