But was surprised at his comments on reliability and brakes. Perhaps the comments only refer to the 50 blown cars.
I know this is tempting fate, but over close to 50 years of vintage Bentley ownership and 100,000 miles of driving, I have always found the brakes good (and due to the good compensation mechanism) and pull up straight, and the car reliable. I have no hesitation in getting into my car and driving across Europe and many people do endurance rallies covering many thousands of miles in often harsh conditions.
What are your views on the superbly built Petersen Bentley Specials? |

The Peterson's I have seen all look to be nicely made cars, and clearly there are customers for them who want a modern car that looks old.
However, they are not Bentleys, but if there are people who want to spend a few hundred thousand pretending they are, it's up to them. Do they diminish the real thing? Probably not if only four a year are being made, unlike Cobras and C Types.
I think any car from the 20's is unlikely to brake , or be as reliable , as a car built today, but if these characteristics are top of the list, best buy something modern. |
