This may have already been addressed but I'm curious as to decoding the manufacture dates on my (now-replaced) gas spring spheres on my 1997 Brooklands.

The removed spheres have the Citroen chevrons, the RR part number and "4-176".

The eight digit number is the Citroen product code and the digits 4-176 denote the date of manufacture ie 176th day of 1994. If it was 04 then that would indicate manufacture in 2004 etc. I presume the R indicates destined for R-R.

Thank you!

I wasn't thinking sequential days so this explains everything.

My assumption is they are 2004 manufacture which explains why they had completely failed
