1936 4 1/4 litre and the temperature gauge has suddenly stopped working. The connections at the engine and the gauge seem OK, but I am unsure of how it operates or what to specifically look for.
Car seems to run fine and there is water in the radiator at the expected level.
Any hints or tips on what to check? |

These gauges are usually filled with ether (or similar) tiny pin hole leaks can occur, while it is possible to do a diy repair, getting the ether, and refilling the bulb can be very difficult.
Donald Day repaired mine some years ago. Speedy Cables also used to repair them too.

The gauge and sensor are in one piece, as shown. The last one I had was rebuilt by Alpine Eagle, about £370.00.
The previous example was replaced with an electric sensor and gauge "painted" "B".
