My Special - bodied R-Type is too low at back-end and catches the exhaust when driving over ramps etc. Can a universal air bag suspension kit be fitted as an alternative to re-tempering road springs?

Hi Blue,
I've been a Bentley special watcher for decades and have never seen that done. Having said that, the hot-rod boys fit bags to everything to get variable ride height. The Rods 'n Sods forum is the place to enquire. The good news is that there's plenty of strength in the Bentley frame so it's just a matter of fairly agricultural engineering, plus finding somewhere to mount the hydraulics and controls.

FWIW, on some Alan Padgett specials, he used light leaf springs to locate the axle but the heavy lifting was done by coil-overs. I never got to ask him why, but that seems like an expedient route to adjustable springs and dampers. I've got some photographs of one, buried in a dusty corner of my hard drive which I can look for if that would help.
kind regards,
Stephen
